Evening Tour of the Thiseio Visitors Centre – National Observatory of Athens

Explore the night sky from one of Athens’ most historic scientific landmarks. The Thiseio Visitors Centre of the National Observatory of Athens opens its gates for evening tours under the stars, offered in English every Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday at 22:00.

Led by expert staff, the 70-minute experience includes a guided tour of the Museum of Geoastrophysics and the historic Synge Meridional Telescope. While the famed Doridis dome remains closed for maintenance, visitors can still enjoy a stargazing session—weather permitting—through portable telescopes set up on site.

This immersive tour offers a fascinating blend of astronomy, science history, and celestial observation, all from a hilltop vantage point with sweeping views over the Athenian skyline. It's suitable for adults and children aged 6+, and a great way for curious minds to connect with the cosmos.

Tickets (€5) must be booked online in advance and exchanged at the entrance 15 minutes before the tour begins. Spaces are limited—no phone reservations accepted.
