Landing in Greece for the first time, Catalan DJ and producer John Talabot comes to test the acoustics of the Athens Conservatory’s brand new gig space and the Athenian crowd’s stamina. Having been dubbed as “cosmic ambient techno, moody deep house, and eclectic electro”, Talabot’s sound bears a remarkably versatile signature, be it in his own productions or DJ sets. Through his own label, Hivern Discs, he has managed to transform the current electronic music landscape making it one of the most eclectic boutique labels of late. His high energy, textured DJ sets have left a mark wherever he has performed, in venues and festivals such as Sónar, Pickle Factory, Moog or the Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum in Glasgow. Actually, the only bad thing we can think of when it comes to the Catalan producer’s career so far, is the fact that he hasn’t released a personal album since 2013’s masterpiece ƒIN.
Norwegian DJ Sotofett opens the night with his multi-genre set. He releases techno and house under his label Sex Tags Mania and dub, experimental, jazz and psychedelic music under Sex Tags Amfibia.
